ok i will send you the sample, but for me is not my code .

- create a file name  test.txt 
- copy and rename testêéè.txt
 
"text.text" f:open 
=> ok

"testêéè.txt" f:open 
=> give null

"testêéè.txt" f:print
=> the print is  ok ???   

So the console mode to lunch 8th in mode UTF8 (chcp 65001)

I'm sorry, but the example you posted I can't run.

Please, make a complete example which can show the problem.  Also please give a sample file-name which doesn't work.

Also: does "f:open" work with that accented file name?

I use a filechooser to pipe a  external cmd on w7x64 .
When i try a file name with accented  letter , i receive file not found. 
From console, i try the cmd with the same file name arguments any problem.
a dup . cr of  string  show the file name ok.

So, it could be a  problem  between  the string variable 8th   and the console code page .
